I missed Parent Day....Sometimes Parenting Sucks

Happy Parents Day everyone! I hope that your children treat you well.

If you're anything like me, parenting sucks. Let's think about all the times that it sucked:

0-12 month of age: Parenting sucks because no matter how hard you try, you can't get the baby to stop crying. Changing, feeding, holding, loving - nothing helps. Parenting sucks because you can't make everything better no matter how hard you try.
"My 18 year old daughter is still in her terrible 2's"
1-5 years of age: Parenting sucks because kids can tell you NO! They've evolved from the crying, whining, non-walking blobs that they were and into holy terrors. (My 18 year old daughter is still in her terrible 2's.)

6-12 years of age: No matter how loud you are, kids are deaf when watching TV, playing video games, or on the computer. "Hello? Hey you, kid! You, the one that eats everything in the fridge. HELLO! HELLO!" Finally out of sheer desperation, you turn off the TV, computer, or gaming system.
"Huh? Were you talking to me?"
"Yes, yes I was."

13-18 years of age: You have now become the person who is older than dust. You know nothing, you've never been young, and you're ruining their lives. How did you manage to get that much power when they spent 7 years not even listening to you? They hate you, you hate them and the yelling keeps the neighbors awake. (Even the one with the hearing aides.)

19 - parenthood - You are the bank. They turn to you for all the things that they did wrong, even if you told them and they said it would never happen. You use your Mommy "Get Out Of Jail Free" card and rescue them. You try your hardest not to say, "I told you so."

Parenthood - death - You know everything. Your children finally tell you that you were right all this time and they tell you they are sorry. The five-letter word that you have been looking forward to hearing since birth.

But no matter how much trouble they gave you, you love them to death. You'd do an
ything you could for them, even if they sometime forget to say thank you. Know that this too shall pass! Enjoy your Parent's Day - you deserve it. I'm not sure about you - but even with the suckiness that parenthood sometimes brings - I wouldn't trade it for the world.
