Review: The Green Man by Lee Mather

I was recently approached by Damnation Books to review some of their books. I hadn't heard of this publisher yet, but thought:

"Self, what can go wrong? I will take some of the short ones."

The first one that I requested was The Green Man by Lee Mather. It was listed as a horror book, but I didn't find it too horrifying. It was more like creepy and scary. (In a good way!)

Here's what the publisher and Mr. Mather have to say about the book:

Peter never believed in the Green Man. He told himself the story was just his mother’s way of making sense of tragedy. An educated man with little faith in anything, Peter had no patience for supposed premonitions. That day—the day of the flight—was different. With his mother’s latest warning ringing in his ears, the plane began to falter. Peter’s world was about to change.

This story was told in a way that makes you want to keep reading and reading and reading. I would think that describing a tragedy in a way that puts the reader in the author's seat would be difficult. But Lee Mather had no problem what-so-ever. I hate planes, and I could feel myself panicking while reading what he wrote. I found myself wanting to slap his friend. I felt the tears in my eyes and I felt the love that needed resolved.

Mr. Mather has a great way with words and I look forward to reading more of what he has to offer.

I'm looking forward to more books by Damnation Books!

OWN - Oprah Winfrey Network - are you ready?

I'm so ready to watch the OWN network. Thanks to SheSpeaks and OWNSM  they were able to give me the wonderful opportunity to check out Your OWN Show:Oprah's Search for the Next TV Star. Of course she teased me and only let me see up to the elimination round, and not who was eliminated....<>.

I've been kind of down on reality shows lately but OWN shows us that not all reality shows are about petty bitterness and fighting. (Though you do get a squabble or two on Search for the Next TV Star.

Here's some information on OWN that I hope you find useful. Read it, and I'll meet you there Friday at 9:00pm for the premier of Your OWN Show:Oprah's Search for the Next TV Star. See you then.

Tami

And just to make sure that you don't think I was picking her cause I like her better than you:

I love all my readers the same! There will be more winners in the new year as I plan some wonderful giveaways.
